The Great King is our King. Those are His words from the King's Guide Psalms 23. What does that mean? What does a King do for the young knights in His Realm?
A King provides. According to The Prince, in The King's Guide Matthew 6:25-26, Doesn't life in the realm consist of more than food and clothing. Look at the birds. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because the Great King feeds them. And His knights are far more valuable to Him than they are.
Life on the Manor and in The Realm does not consist of toil and sweat. The King provides for his subjects. All He asks is for us to labor well in the trade to which we are apprenticed.
A King protects. In The King's Guide Psalm 91:1 we are told, Knights who live in the Realm of the Great King will find rest on the manor of the King. That doesn't tell us we will never encounter dragons. It tells us we don't have to live afraid of the dragons. Knights can, and do, get attacked by dragons. But if the King is around, and the Great King has promised to never leave us or forsake us (King's Guide Hebrews 13:5), we knights are safe because the King fights through us.
A King corrects. Ouch! OK, we don't like this one. But, truth is truth. Sometimes we need correcting. It is good for us. Knights learn to fight and win against the dragon through jousting for the King. Sometimes when you joust, you win. Other times, you lose. But only through practiced jousting can a knight take on and defeat the dragons.
A King guides. King's Guide John 10:27, My knights recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me. An accomplished knight named Rick Warren wrote a little book called "The Purpose Driven Life". In it he states that the King's Guide teaches we all have five purposes: to worship the King, to serve other knights, to participate in banquets and feasts in the Realm, to become like the Crown Prince, and to tell others about Him. These give our life meaning. Everyone wants a life of meaning. The Great King guides us, He gives a life of purpose and meaning.
