Evangelism is presenting the Gospel. I feel it is so very important to relay the Gospel in the simplest form it can possibly be. For Jesus Himself ministered to the child in each of us. This is why I feel God plays such an important role in getting the Gospel message across.
God, as the Master, supplies the need to meet us each where we are at in life. He wants a relationship with us so one day we will have face-to-face fellowship with him. He makes a way for us to present the Gospel so even the smallest of children can comprehend His message of love for us. We are saved because of His grace and sacrificial love of giving to us His life that reconciles us to Himself through Christ. He helps us to speak to others courageously and fearlessly through us accepting his help by the Holy Spirit. He trusts us with His Gospel. We must be willing to take the Gospel serious to share it with others.
Evangelism is presenting the Gospel to “the masses”. They must be willing to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. They need to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. When they are ready, they will rejoice for having received Jesus. Some who receive Jesus do so even though they may suffer for Him. They need to see that they must be reconciled to God, although they will sometimes object to the truth when it is first presented.
We, as believers, also have a role in evangelism. We are the messengers. We must first trust Jesus. We are responsible for preaching and teaching Jesus. This means we must preach repentance and the forgiveness of sins. As evangelists, we must be in unity with each other. We must obey the calling to reach others. In order to reach them, we must take advantage of opportunities to talk with unbelievers every day. This may include being prepared to dispute wrong ideas they may have about the Gospel while not passing judgment on them. We must serve God with our whole heart. We cannot rely on our own wisdom, eloquence, or persuasiveness. We need to be examples, and love people from God’s point-of-view. We must be real.
Evangelism is presenting the Gospel. We must convince people of their need to call on the name of the Lord for salvation. We need to be able to show them the truth of Jesus’ death and resurrection, that He was crucified for us all. Our message should be that there is joy in Christ. That Jesus rejoices with us when we share the Gospel.
How should we do this? What should be our method? First, we need to be open when people see our example and ask why we need to make Jesus Lord. We must evangelize by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. We must be transparent, so we can minister to all types of people from all races and backgrounds. We need to realize that we will occasionally, and sometimes often, suffer and struggle for the Gospel, but that we can endure this with the help of the Holy Spirit. We should “speak the truth in love”, but with heartfelt, emotional sincerity.
I realize that people won’t always be receptive to the Gospel. I have to let God direct me. I don’t have to pursue people who continually reject the Gospel. I must continue to pray for them. For in praying for them the Lord can bring others across their path to witness where I have left off. I do this graciously and humbly, loving the person even when they are not lovable. This will help others who witness to them have more of a chance for the message to be received. While praying for others I need to continue submitting my life to Jesus in an ongoing personal relationship to Him, continuing to be equipped to give an answer to people who are ready to receive. Helping me to grow up in the faith even more.
