I was born in Chattanooga TN. My father is a retired Pastor. I have served three churches in a fulltime capactity: Christ Community Church in Winter Haven FL, Prosect United Methodist Church in Covington GA, and Fairview Wesleyan Church in Cottondale AL.
While in Winter Haven, FL at Christ Community Church with Mark James, I assisted as God grew that church from under 100 average weekly attendees to over 450. A great deal of my time was spent developing the small group ministry and developing a volunteer leadership team for that ministry. I worked closely with Mark planning and setting goals for CCC, including the planning and building of their first permanent facility.
As Children’s Pastor in Covington, GA (a church of about 315 weekly attendees) a good deal of my time was spent in outreach ministry. I operated an Upward Sports program that routinely served about 350 kids annually, over 75% of which are not attendees of our local church. In addition, the Children’s Ministry promoted three annual community events that collectively served over 1,000 people, most of whom are not connected to our church. Through these outreaches we typically saw around 100 people come to Christ annually. We have been able to connect many families to our church through these efforts.
In this position I also had the responsibility of merging several disconnected children’s ministries into one unit. I felt led to operate this ministry as a micro-church, a church-within-a-church. We conducted a regular worship service, in which I preached messages that I could, and have, preach to an adult population. This necessitated my developing impactful sermons but communicating them in simple ways.
My current position is Pastor of Fairview Wesleyan Church in Cottondale, AL. Karen and I have been here a little over two years.
I am a 1985 graduate of Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL and am licensed as a minister of the Gospel by the International Ministerial Fellowship of Minneapolis, MN.
Karen was born in Austell, GA and is a 2007 graduate of the Biblical Studies program of Victory World Ministry Training Center in Norcross, GA. She also holds professional licenses in Aesthetics in Florida and Georgia. Her professional career throughout our marriage has centered around volunteerism. She has offered her time to private and public schools, homeless shelters, migrant farmworkers agencies, hospitals, and churches.
In our ministry together, she has served alongside me in a variety of ways. She has been instrumental in developing our current children's ministry. She is quite compassionate and assists me in home, community, and hospital visits. She also is a great personal communicator and encourager and has operated her own private "card ministry" throughout the years.
We were married in 1994, moved to Winter Haven in 1995, and were founding members of CCC in 2001. We returned to the Atlanta metro area in 2006.
